Minorities Welfare Day to be observed at Kurnool on Nov. 11

‘Scholarships and loans will be disbursed among beneficiaries’

The State government is going to celebrate National Education Day and Minorities Welfare Day at Kurnool on November 11 on the occasion of India’s first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth anniversary.

At a press conference at the CM’s camp office, AP State Minorities Finance Corporation chairman Md. Hidayat said beneficiaries of various minority welfare schemes would be disbursed benefits such as scholarships and loans.

Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy would be the chief guest of the programme.

AP Urdu Academy chairman Nauman said as many as 40 teachers would be given the Best Teacher Award. Best performing students from all the 13 districts would be given a cash prize of ₹5,000 each. Besides, the government would present the Moulana Azad Award to those striving for the development of Urdu language.

Lifetime achievement awards in Urdu journalism, poetry and other professions and arts promoting Urdu language would be presented on the occasion, he said.

“The government is giving ₹8,000 for imams and moulanas and it has already allocated over ₹50 crore for it,” Mr. Hidavat added.

Fathima issue

Speaking about students of Fathima Institute of Medical Sciences, Mr. Hidayat said the Chief Minister was keen on solving the problem and a committee had been constituted to pursue the issue with the Medical Council of India.

On legal action against the FIMS management, Mr. Hidayat said the government wanted to take immediate action, but that would cause the students more hardship, which was why action had not been initiated so far.
