March 29, 2015 05:19 pm | Updated 05:21 pm IST - CHITTOOR:

The Chittoor police on Sunday arrested two youth on charges of gangraping a 15-year-old dalit girl at Diguvamodulapalle village of Tavanampalle mandal, 25 km from here.

The police said that the two youth - Pradeep and Rajesh (both 22) of the same village - forcibly took away the girl while she was sleeping outside her hut in the small hours (1.00 am) of Saturday. Confining her to a mango garden, a 250 meters away from the village, the duo gagged her and outraged her modesty taking turns repeatedly.

After 22 hours of confinement, at around 11.00 pm on Saturday, the girl escaped from the isolated spot, while the duo were away to get liquor. The girl and her parents lodged a complaint with the Tavanampalle police on Sunday morning. A special team of Tavanampalle and Irala police nabbed the duo while they were about to flee the village.

The police had brought the girl to the Government General Hospital in Chittoor for medical examination. Circle-Inspector (Chittoor West) Adinarayana said that the duo were booked under IPC sections dealing with kidnap and gang rape.
