Minister urges SCs, STs to turn entrepreneurs

Social and Tribal Welfare Minister R. Kishore Babu said the government would encourage and assist SCs and STs in every aspect to compete with other classes of society.

Nevertheless, they must make the most of the opportunities that the government had been providing them. The Minister was here on Thursday to create awareness among SCs and STs on Chandranna Samkshema Palana. Addressing the gathering at M.R. College Stadium, the Minister said a proposal to convert welfare hostels to residential schools for providing corporate education to SCs and STs was under consideration.

He sanctioned Rs. 13 crore for two residential schools at Gajapathinagaram and Balijipeta and Rs. 2crore for ‘Girijan Bhavan in the district.

He laid the foundation stones for three Ekalavya model residential schools, government polytechnic college at G.L. Puram, and youth training centre, estimated to cost Rs. 46 crore. He said Araku Utsav would be held on March 14 and 15 .
