MIM to field Mir Majaj Ali from Nizamabad

April 08, 2014 07:03 pm | Updated June 12, 2016 09:17 pm IST - NIZAMABAD:

Majlis e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has announced Mir Majaj Ali as its candidate for Nizamabad (Urban) Assembly constituency. The former Deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporation, Mr. Ali, resigned from the Congress and joined the MIM just before the municipal elections.

In fact, he filed his papers as Corporator candidate from MIM from Division No. 37, but his nomination was rejected following the absence of his name in the local voters’ list. In its efforts to win a majority of divisions in the town comprising a sizeable Muslim minority population and also the urban Assembly seat, the MIM this time focused its attention on the constituency.

Hence, party leaders Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi made several visits to the town and to Bodhan and addressed public meetings. They are also making efforts to keep their vote bank intact besides attracting other sections.
