The MGM Hospital would get Rs. 28 crore as immediate relief within a week. The hospital will also have 10 ventilators, 20 multi channel monitors, 10 incubators and some cots in the children’s ward, said Health Minister K Murali here on Sunday.
The Health Minister along with BC Welfare Minister B Saraiah and in-charge Minister R. Venkat Reddy and chief whip G. V. Ramana Reddy and MP S. Rajaiah visited the MGM Hospital in the wake of series of deaths of children. He also visited the Government Maternity Hospital and CKM Hospital in the town.
Mr. K Murali said that he would meet Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on the matter and ensure that Rs. 78 crore fund was released to MGM and other hospitals in the town forthwith. The State government would fill all the 350 vacancies at the MGM Hospital and would also see that specialists were appointed on regular basis.
Later reviewing with the hospital authorities, he instructed them to make use of Rs 6 crore available with the institution under the Arogyasri scheme. He also announced that services of all the 260 contract workers and 338 contract nurses would be regularised soon.
The Minister also said efforts were on to bring additional 50 seats to the Kakatiya Medical College and start nursing college in Warangal.
Mr. R. Venkat Reddy told newsmen that soon a meeting would be held with the Chief Minister to discuss about the facilities at MGM Hospital. Mr Saraiah urged the Health Minister to convene a meeting every month to review the functioning of the MGM Hospital.
Earlier, a group of junior doctors staged a protest raising slogans on their demands. They tried to obstruct the visit of the Ministers.
The police prevailed upon and pulled them aside after a scuffle.
