Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd. (MEIL) has adopted two villages as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

While MEIL chairman P.P. Reddy adopted Jamulapalli near Pithapuram in East Godavari district, its managing director P.V. Krishna Reddy adopted Dokiparru in Krishna district.

Speaking at Dokiparru on Wednesday, Mr. P. P. Reddy said MEIL would provide infrastructure facilities such as roads and toilets to the villages.

“The goal is to construct toilets for every house with adequate land. Common toilets will be constructed if land is not available. The objective is to ensure there is no open defecation,” he added.

Solar power

A hospital will also be constructed shortly. Already a function hall and temple were constructed for the convenience of the villagers, he said adding the villagers were requested to form a committee to scrutinse the requirements and chalk out plans for development of the village.

Mr. Krishna Reddy said the company planned to provide solar power for every household in Jamulapalli and Dokiparru villages.

“We don’t have any political agenda behind the adoption of these villages. We want to develop our native villages,” he said, adding: “Our motto is memu saitam (we too).”
