In view of the “obvious advantages”, the State government has decided to accept the Central government’s proposal to join the national pool with regard to the seats in the undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses.

Addressing a press conference, Medical and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said, “The State government was apprehensive that Article 371D would be a hurdle to join the national pool. The Centre, however, allayed the apprehensions.”

Andhra Pradesh would have to earmark 285 (15%) seats to the pool. In turn, the State students can compete for 4,442 seats available across the country. Likewise, 415 PG seats would be earmarked for the national pool and 6,665 seats would be available for them, he said.
