The district administration is making necessary arrangements for conducting the last rites for departed mountaineer Masthan Babu at his native place at Gandhi Janasangham near Sangham town in Nellore district here on Wednesday.
Joint Collector Imtiyaz Ahmed told The Hindu that the body of Mastan Babu would be brought to India on Tuesday from Argentina. As soon as the body was received at the Chennai airport, the same would be handed over to the family members. As per the decision of the government, a State funeral would be accorded to the mountaineer for his outstanding contributions to the nation.
Meanwhile, demands were coming from different segments of society for giving a fitting memorial to Masthan Babu in his native district.
