Masked man continues to attack women in West Godavari

Two more incidents reported in Narsapuram division. Police seized the needles and have sent them to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination.

The psychopath, who was creating panic by jabbing needles to women, continued to attack them moving alone in villages in West Godavari on Wednesday.

The man in mask attacked women at Siddantham, Budavarayuducheruvu and Kavitam villages. The incidents were reported from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. triggering panic among the women.

Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Bhushan said that the miscreant was targeting women moving alone and was jabbing needles while travelling on a two wheeler. However, doctors who treated the victims said the needles did not contain sedative or any other dangerous drugs.

“In all the incidents, the accused attacked women and girls on East and West Godavari borders. The victims were rushed to hospitals and their condition is stable. We are trying to find out whether one person or more accused are in the gang,” the SP said.

Suspect nabbed

Police seized the needles and have sent them to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination. We are collecting details from the victims to identify the accused.

“Police forces were deployed in Narsapuram Police Sub-Division where series of attacks were reported in the last few days. The patrolling police nabbed a suspect, but let off after confirming that he is not the guilty in the cases,” said Mr. Bhushan.

Minister reacts

Women Development and Child Welfare Minister Peetala Sujatha who responded on the series of needle attacks on women and girls spoke with the police and directed them to take measures to nab the accused.

The SP explained the Minister that vehicle checking and frisking was being done and patrolling hadd been intensified to trace the accused.
