Human Resource Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday announced the postponement of the ‘Mana Ooru Mana Badi’ programme a while after formally inaugurating the educational drive at Patamata Lanka Government School.
Explaining that the programme was designed to rope in the children into schools and curb the drop-out rate, he said the ultimate aim was to achieve 100% literacy.
“Keeping in view the severity of summer and an appeal by the officials and people’s representatives, it has been decided to postpone the drive. ‘Mana Ooru Mana Badi’ will now be resumed in the June first week just before the reopening of the schools after summer vacations,” he announced.
