Telugu Desam Party MLA D.A. Satyaprabha on Tuesday said that the Mahati Kalakshetram in the town would be named after legendary South Indian actor Chittoor Nagaiah and that the decision of the Municipal Corporation to name the auditorium after N.T. Rama Rao had been dropped.
Addressing a press conference, the legislator said that retaining the name of Mr. Nagaiah was a matter of pride for people of Chittoor as the actor associated himself with Chittoor town for several years.
Ms. Satyaprabha said that steps would be taken to upgrade the district headquarters hospital from a 300-bed facility to one with 500 beds . Similarly, the municipality bus stand would be shifted to the NTR bus station behind the main RTC bus stand. The place of the municipality bus stand would be utilised for construction of a mega shopping complex.
The MLA said that on behalf of the Srinivasa Trust that mobile vehicles would be provided to Chittoor police. The trust would also run a health care centre and a mobile veterinary unit . Ms. Satyaprabha said that the NTR Sujala Sravanthi project will be launched at Kattamanchi area in Chittoor town on Wednesday. She said that a representation was made to the Union Minister for Railways Sadananda Gowda to facilitate stopping of all express and super-fast trains at Chittoor railway station.
