The Mahanadu Road, connecting Autonagar and the National Highway near NTR University, is infamous for being a dusty thoroughfare with long lines of trucks and trailers on both sides round the clock.
On Monday morning, commuters on the road were surprised to see the road free from any dust and illegal parking of heavy vehicles on the roadsides. Only after reaching close to new K-Business Space have people realised the overhaul of the road was for the sake of IT Minister Nara Lokesh’s visit.
A new complex of IT firms has been opened by the Minister on the road. “The road is always dusty due to movement of heavy vehicles and trucks parked on the roadside eat up road space. It will be great if the authorities ensure that parking of vehicles is not allowed in this locality in future,” said Sk. Ahmed, a resident of the nearby Srinivas Nagar Colony.
Widening
The municipal corporation has already announced the widening of the road at a cost of ₹9 cr. It is a main part of the alternative route being created by the VMC to facilitate Benz Circle flyover and Metro corridor works.
