: The temple town is all set to attain a yellow hue, with just a couple of days to go for the Telugu Desam Party’s ‘Mahanadu.’

Workers are slogging round the clock to give a facelift to the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Municipal Corporation High School grounds, which has been chosen to host the party’s three-day biennial conclave.

Tailors are making yellow clothing to adorn the entire venue, while artists are busy giving finishing touches to the portraits of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and party founder Late N.T. Rama Rao, the latter in his normal as well as the traditional Lord Krishna get-up. The party decided to go ahead with its choice of venue, located at a stone’s throw from three major hospitals, amid stiff resistance from opponents that it could cause traffic jams and even threaten lives.

As many as 30,000 delegates at various rungs of the party are expected to arrive for the policy-making event, which is known to suggest the course of action and issue directions to party leaders.

A huge pandal has been erected for conducting the main proceedings, while there are similar, but smaller ones, for the photo exhibition-cum-blood donation camp, media point and food counters.

Ministers B. Gopalakrishna Reddy (Environment and Forests) and P. Narayana (Municipal Administration) reviewed the arrangements with party’s central office secretary V.V.G. Chowdary, State office Secretary T.D. Janardhana Rao and Chittoor district unit President G. Srinivasulu. Former MLA Dayakar Reddy, representing the Telangana State unit, also took part.

Security check

Meanwhile, district Collector Siddharth Jain visited the venue and examined the arrangements in place for the event, which will be attended by all the members of the State Cabinet.

Similarly, the police top brass stayed put and thoroughly screened the security situation at the various entry points.

The mandatory Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) was conducted and the procedures to be followed during the three-day event were thoroughly discussed.

Members of the bomb squad and dog squad carefully checked the venue, especially dais and the D Zone. Apart from the venue, the team of officials visited the CM’s native village Naravaripalle and the airport.
