Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy hinted at a Cabinet reshuffle shortly while exuding confidence of the Congress returning to power in the 2014 general elections with improved strength by beating anti-incumbency.
In a chat with media persons in his chambers in the Assembly on Tuesday, Mr. Reddy nodded his head when asked if there would be changes in his Cabinet soon but refused to divulge when exactly these would be brought about.
“It will be at an appropriate time and we will let you know.” He said it was wrong to see induction of two MPs from the State into Union Cabinet in terms of this or that region.
“They are Ministers for the country. Don’t count them at the regional or sub-regional level. There is no discrimination against any region.
At one time P. V. Narasimha Rao from Telangana was the Prime Minister. Four top posts in Law Department have recently gone to Telangana -- two Law Secretaries, Advocate General and the Public Prosecutor. Why nobody talks about it?”
Asked if he treated the coming elections to local bodies as semi-finals to the general elections in 2014, he said the voters’ mood kept changing and most of them took the call on the day of reckoning. The verdict given by people in one elections could change dramatically within a few months.
But he expected Congress would do well in the coming local bodies’ elections.
