Leakage of gas from a pipeline near the ONGC’s drilling site at Antarvedi in East Godavari district created panic among the public in the early hours of Saturday.

The incident took place when ONGC technicians were undertaking regular checking of pipelines. Gas started leaking from a pipeline passing through the farm fields behind St. Mary’s School and people got alerted by the hissing sound it created.

The technicians swung into action and closed the supply of gas to the pipeline to arrest the leakage. The situation is under control and the repair works are going on.
