Advocates across the State on Tuesday observed a fast demanding the establishment of a separate High Court for Andhra Pradesh. Members of the Rajahmundry Bar Association, led by Bar Council member Muppalla Subba Rao and Rajahmundry Bar Association president B.J.S. Diwakar, observed fast on the district court premises and demanded that the Centre grant special status to AP. Mr. Subba Rao also wanted the Centre to fulfil the assurances made in the State Reorganisation Act and warned of bigger agitation if the government failed to keep its promises.
Chittoor Staff Reporter writes: Members of the Chittoor Bar Association on Tuesday launched a relay hunger strike at the District Court complex here demanding the setting up of a separate High Court for AP.
Vizianagaram Correspondent writes: Advocates sporting white badges observed a token fast at the District Court Complex on Tuesday demanding that the government establish a High Court in Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra and Telangana Bar Council vice-president K.V.N. Thammanna Setty, District Bar Association president G. Rama Mohan Rao and general secretary P. Siva Prasad condemned the recent attack on Andhra Advocate at Ranga Reddy. Mr. Thammanna Setty said the JAC of advocates had already submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu demanding the establishment of a separate HC and added that a plan of action in this regard would be finalised at the meeting in Kadapa on April 5.

He said the all-India advocates’ conference would be held on March 21 and 22 in Kerala where it would adopt a resolution on stipend for junior advocates and houses-sites and health cards for the eligible.
