Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy on Friday indicated that government might consider land pooling mode for various projects in the State.
APIIC projectsTalking to reporters after addressing a one-day workshop on ‘New Land Acquisition Act and AP State Rules’, he said about 30,000 acres of government land and assigned lands have already been identified in Nellore and Kurnool districts for projects to be taken up by Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).
Earlier, addressing the workshop he said A.P. has been a pioneer in rehabilitation and resettlement of project displaced families as the R & R policy in the State was formulated a decade ago.
The Union government has made further improvements and enacted a new law.
“Our State has now notified the rules and it is important to immediately finalise the procedures and approaches to operationalise the new act in our nascent State”, he said.
Referring to the recent visits of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu Singapore and Japan to invite industrialists, he said sizeable proposals were expected in the coming days.
He said under the new act, private companies acquiring land over 5,000 acres were liable to rehabilitate the displaced people.
Whenever lands were acquired for private individuals or companies, 80 per cent of the owners would have to agree before taking up acquisition.
Similarly, for lands taken up for Public-Private Partnership projects, 70 per cent of the land owners need to give their consent.
Chairman of APIIC, Krishnaiah said about 2.74 lakh acres of government and assigned lands have been identified all over the State.
