The much awaited day of the season arrived in Lambasingi. Temperature dropped to Zero degree Celsius on Sunday.
For the past few years, Lambasingi in Chintapalli mandal of Visakha Agency areas, about 110 km from here, started attracting tourists during winter thanks to the zero degree temperature recorded for a few days during most of the winters.
Temperature was steadily dropping for the last couple of years at Lambasingi, located more than 3,000 feet above sea level, and and all over Visakha Agency. From seven degrees Celsius minimum temperature on Friday at Lambasingi, it dropped to two degrees on Saturday and zero degree on Sunday. Minimum temperature at Chintapalliwas 10 degrees on Friday, six degrees on Saturday and three on Sunday.
Weather turned chilly during the last few days after a rise in temperature was observed during the previous one week or 10 days. At Paderu, the Revenue divisional headquarters, temperature was six degrees Celsius since Saturday. It dropped to 6 degrees on Friday from 13 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Fog is continuing for a long time after the day break at Lambasingi, Chintapalli, Paderu, Araku Valley and other places in the Visakha Agency forcing people to use more layers of woollen clothes and set up small fires to keep warm. The chill in climate continues even after the sun comes out brightly around 10 a.m. or 11 a.m.
Tourists at the famous tourism destination Araku are enjoying their stay in full thanks to the drop in temperature, which is between five and six degrees for the last four days. Fog is clearing quickly after day break at Araku but lingering on for a long time around it.
Lambasingi is a village on the Narsipatnam-Chintapalli ghat road, nearly four hour drive through the hills and forests from here. It has only a few tea shops and infrastructure needed by tourists is absent. The tourists can just spend a few hours on the road and return. The State government is yet to put into action its plans for tourist facilities.
