May 19, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - CHITTOOR:

The Chittoor Task Force police were surprised when Sangeetha Chatterjee, Kolkata-based model and red sanders smuggler, failed to turn up at the court here on Wednesday as was directed by a designated court in Kolkata early this month.

Following inter-State operations by the Chittoor police, led by DSP V.V. Girdhar, the special team seized bank accounts and lockers of Sangeetha at her residence in Kolkata, but she could obtain interim bail from the Alipore court there, which directed her to appear in the Chittoor court on May 18. She was wanted by the Chittoor police in connection with red sanders smuggling cases. The police went tracking her in Kolkata following interrogation of one Lakshmanan, a smuggler. Both Lakshmanan and Sangeetha were said to be in live-in relationship for the past two years.
