Kurnool ZP chairman M. Rajasekhar Goud lodged a complaint with Superintendent of Police Gopinath Jatti on Friday seeking registration of a case of election code violation against YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at a public meeting in Nandyal.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy lowered the dignity of the Chief Minister by resorting to personal slander and inciting the people, thereby violating the guidelines issued by the Election Commission, Mr. Goud asserted.

He sought booking of a case under Sections 123 (a), 125 and 127 of the Representation of People’s Act, 1951, against Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Maintain decency: Sidda

Special Correspondent in Ongole writes:

Environment Minister Sidda Raghava Rao took exception to Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s remarks that “a person like Mr. Naidu should be shot in public for his double speak and rampant corruption.”

The Minister told a media conference here that sensing defeat in the Nandyal Assembly byelection, the Leader of the Opposition had lost his cool and was behaving in an irresponsible manner.

He advised Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy to maintain decorum and decency in politics, and recalled that Mr. Naidu had never crossed his limits while politically fighting “anti-people” policies of the Congress government under Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

‘People disgusted’

“People are totally disgusted with Mr. Jagan, who is always creating hurdles in the development of the State,” he said.
