Kuppam to see slew of development

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is keen on bringing a total change in development of key areas of agriculture and its allied sectors in the State, his Special Secretary A. Giridhar has said.

Mr. Giridhar, accompanied by Chittoor Collector Siddarth Jain, visited Kuppam on Wednesday and held a review meeting with the district heads of various departments.

Speaking at a press conference here, Mr. Giridhar said that steps would be taken to present various problems faced by Kuppam people before the Chief Minister and a special officer for Kuppam constituency would be appointed soon.

“Kuppam has big prospects in agriculture, sericulture, horticulture and floriculture. To boost the market potential, a plan of action will come up soon, which include a study to construct a mini-airport here,” he said.

He further elicited information from the officials on the construction of an under-bridge in Kuppam, paucity of classrooms in various schools, issues pertaining to teacher shortage, drinking water, sanitation and others. Regarding the Palar water project proposed at Ganeshpuram, Mr Giridhar said at present, a case was in progress in Supreme Court and an advocate had been engaged to deal it.

Giving details on the Vision-2020, he said that the Chittoor-Krishnagiri (TN) road would be converted into a National Highway, and the Kuppam, Chennai, Bangalore would be linked through it.

The official laid special emphasis on floriculture in the constituency. “Steps would be taken to facilitate farmers to export their produce to Singapore as suggested by the Chief Minister,” he said. “The Chief Minister is mulling options to bring the Kandaleru waters to Kuppam, besides bringing the Handri-Neeva waters to Madanapalle, Mr. Giridhar.
