Caretaker Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has changed his strategy on the launch of a new political party by deciding to wait for the Congress to make its next move on imposition of President’s rule or installation of a new government.

Against the general belief that he has almost finalised the date for announcing a new political party in the next few days, Mr. Reddy prefers to wait for the Congress leadership to take their next step. Although the expelled Congress MPs have been saying that Mr. Reddy would launch the party at any cost, the political developments in Delhi appear to have prompted his aides to change the plan.

According to sources close to the caretaker Chief Minister, if the Congress leadership plans to get the elections postponed by few months, Mr. Reddy would then tour the 13 districts extensively and hold mass contact programmes.

If the Election Commission announces the poll notification for both the Lok Sabha and Assembly simultaneously, the strategy would be different.

Meanwhile, Mr. Reddy continued his consultations with students, youths and employee unions. On Wednesday, he briefly interacted with the Seemandhra Electricity employees JAC. Addressing the gathering, he did not mince words in blaming the Centre for the present mess. He said he stood by the statement made in the Assembly on the ill-effects of bifurcation.

He blamed political parties for playing with the future of Seemandhra people and charged that the Congress had divided the State for the sake of seats and votes.

He said by getting a Bill that was rejected by the State Assembly passed in the Parliament, the UPA government had insulted the people of Seemandhra.
