‘Kiran striving for minority welfare’

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is striving for the welfare of the poorer sections and is according special priority to minorities, Minister for Minority Welfare Mohammed Ahmedullah said.

The Chief Minister allocated land for a Haj House near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and sanctioned a study circle for promoting the education of minorities and extending loans to them, he said while replying to his felicitation by Congress leaders at Kalakshetram here on Sunday night. Efforts are on to get land allotment for Urdu University at Putlampalle here and several welfare schemes have been formulated for the welfare of minorities, he said.

Describing Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy as an honest and hard-working leader, Mr. Ahmedullah said he was indebted to the people of Kadapa for electing him municipal chairman, MLA and helping him become Minister for the second consecutive term. Minority leaders of the Congress felicitated the Minister with a shawl, garland and a floral headgear and presented him a sword.

Congress has thought about the welfare of minorities since Jawaharlal Nehru’s rule, Congress MLA of Kamalapuram G. Veerasiva Reddy said. Mr. Ahmedullah played a key role in getting considerable budget for minority welfare this year, he said. The Chief Minister was keen on minority welfare, he said.
