The first car manufactured by Kia Motors at its Anantapur facility will be rolled out in January 2019.

Representatives of Kia Motors informed this to Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu at a meeting on Tuesday.

Making a presentation on the progress, they outlined various modules of the project in Anantapur.

The company could complete 65.3% of the assembly shop, 63.1% of the paint shop, 65.1% of the body shop and 64.1% of the press.

The engine shop, the head office, manual transmission, seats, coil centre, test track and the township with residential buildings also form part of the project, the Kia representatives told Mr. Naidu.

Real-time updates

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu directed Industries Department officials to ensure that there were real-time updates of the physical progress of the project.

Speaking to the officials at the Anantapur Collectorate through video conference, he directed them to resolve land acquisition issues at the earliest.

The Chief Minister also congratulated all officials for making sure that the project is ahead of schedule.

Kia Motors India and the AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) will start a Basic Training Course in the automobile sector on June 20.

The course will admit students only from Anantapur district to enhance their skills.
