MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi emerging from the Rural police station for being produced before the Munsif Magistrate at Nirmal early on Wednesday.

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi will be known by undertrial prisoner number 7546 as long he remains in the district jail, Adilabad, where he is lodged currently following his arrest in the hate speech case at Nirmal.

The jail authorities gave him this number before shifting him to one of the 10 segregated barracks inside the premises on Wednesday morning. “Mr. Owaisi does not enjoy any special status and will be treated like any other inmate here. He will follow the jail routine,” a jail official said.

Sources inside the high security prison said the MIM leader appeared quiet and composed.

“He was served khichdi for breakfast and his lunch comprised roti , rice, rasam and pesara pappu ,” the source said.

Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi read newspapers in the morning. The district jail was shifted from Asifabad town to the headquarters in 2008.
