A well-known novelist, writer and a medical doctor Kesava Reddy passed away after a prolonged illness here on Friday. He was 68 and is survived by wife Deeramati, son Nandan Reddy and daughter Neema.
Hailing from Chittoor District, Kesava Reddy had come to Nizamabad District immediately after his MBBS from JIPMER Pondicherry and joined the Victoria Missionary Hospital at Dichpally four decades ago. Later, he was sent to the CMC Vellore in Tamil Nadu to do his Post Graduation in dermatology by the hospital management.
After completion of the PG he came back and joined the hospital. He treated a number of leprosy patients during his career. Out of love for literature he penned eight novels, short and long stories.
Known for his simplicity and politeness, Kesava Reddy had become famous as a novelist rather than a medical doctor. His novel Athadu Adavini Jayinchadu (He Conquered Forest) which was published in `80s, was well received by the people and probably the best among his works.
“Munemma”, “Moogavani Pillanagrovi” and “Smasanam Dunne” were among his other novels. Some of them were translated into English and other languages. He was declared dead at a private hospital when he was brought there by family members. His condition turned serious on Friday morning.
Naidu condoles death
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has condoled the death of Kesava Reddy. A large number of friends, colleagues and literary personalities started making a beeline to his residence at Pragathinagar here to pay homage.
