Karnataka hands over lottery case to CBI

In an effort to pre-empt another full-fledged confrontation with the Opposition parties, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday announced that the State government would hand over the investigations into the illegal lottery scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Addressing a press conference, the Chief Minister said: “The government will ask the CBI to probe alleged illegalities in all types of lotteries, including Satta-Matka and single-digit lottery, from April 2007 (the year when Karnataka banned private lottery). The Chief Secretary will write to the CBI by tomorrow.”

This is the second case being handed over to the CBI by the Siddaramaiah government in a span of two months.

It’s an attempt to expose the conspiracy being hatched by the Opposition to misguide people. The charges (against me and the Home Minister) are baseless and politically motivatedSiddaramaiahChief Minister
