JNTUK to launch online courses

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) is making arrangements to launch Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for the benefit of engineering students. Students of B.Tech, can choose online courses in an elective manner and finish them along with their academics.

Special credits will be given to the students as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Sunday, Vice-Chancellor of the JNTUK V.S.S. Kumar said that the MOOCs system would be a win-win to the institution and the industry, as they could improve the employability skills of the students. “The university is planning to launch skill development centres for the benefit of students aspiring to attend various entrance tests and competitive examinations. Special faculty will be appointed to these centres and coaching will be given even to the aspirants of Civil Services,” he said.

Dual degree courses

Stating that the response to the dual degree courses was quite encouraging, the Vice-Chancellor said that 190 students obtained admission into the courses during the current academic year.

“Representatives from the British Council will visit the JNTUK this week and guide us on the dual degree courses,” he said.

Research guides

Prof. Kumar said that the University was according top priority to the research work and it was inviting research guides to enrol with the university.

“Hereafter, the JTNUK will provide guides to the research scholars in a scientific manner,” he said.

Registrar G.V.R. Prasada Raju and other officials were present.

The university is planning to launch skill development centres for the benefit of students aspiring to attend various entrance tests and competitive examinations.
