Andhra Pradesh is regressing in the rule of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Leader of Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged on Tuesday.
Mr. Reddy asserted that he undertook the 3,000-km Praja Sankalpa Yatra to gauge the plight of the people, particularly poorer sections who were in dire straits owing to the government’s nonchalant attitude to their woes. As Mr. Naidu was disinterested in implementing the Telugu Desam Party manifesto, it was removed from the Chief Minister’s website, he said in a public meeting from atop his campaign vehicle at Chagalamarri after garlanding YSR statue. He reiterated his promises to the people and sought their suggestions on his Nava Ratna schemes, which he would implement if YSR Congress Party gained power in the next elections.
Women put rangoli and youth spread a bed of flowers on the road to receive Mr. Reddy whose padayatra touched the 100-km mark when he entered Kurnool district, after a week-long padayatra in 125 villages in five Assembly constituencies in his native Kadapa district.
Kurnool city Sagara (Uppara) Sangham president U. Suresh Babu and members met Mr. Reddy and urged him to allot an MLC seat to the community, whose population was around 15 lakh in the State. Stating that the community members were educationally backward and eked out a living as construction workers and digging canals and wells, they sought allotment of poclains to them to earn a livelihood, if YSRCP gained power.
Auditors and traders of Kadapa district represented to Mr. Reddy at Chagalamarri against the GST.
A differently abled youth Narasimha of SC Colony at Chagalamarri said he submitted about 65 representations to officials and going round offices since four years for sanction of pension, which was elusive.
