YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was never sincere on the Special Category Status (SCS).
Addressing a public meeting at Mylavaram in Krishna district as part of the Praja Sankalpa Padayatra, Mr. Jagan said it was same in the one-day fast Mr. Naidu was going to stage on April 20, his birthday.
Saying Andhra Pradesh would have got the SCS long ago if someone else was Chief Minister, he said the State would have definitely got it if all the 25 MPs had resigned and sat on an indefinite fast in New Delhi.
‘Corruption at all levels’
Mr. Jagan came down on Mr. Naidu and Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao charging them with indulging in the worst kind of corruption. Huge amounts changed hands in the Pattiseema scheme, the Polavaram project, capital land pooling and sand mining. The entire government was involved in corruption starting with the district Collectors right up to the Chief Minister and his son Lokesh, he said.
No one was booked though 23 people had died when a boat without licence capsized in the Krishna river, Mr. Jagan said.
