Jagan faults Naidu on waiver of loans

June 10, 2014 12:50 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:05 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

YSR Congress president and Leader of Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy criticised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for constituting a committee to work out modalities for waiving off farmers loans and demanded that all agricultural loans be written off as promised by Telugu Desam Party in its manifesto.

In an open letter to Mr. Naidu, he said “issues like committees and 45-day deadline were not mentioned in the promises made by you or in the manifesto.”

Referring to issuance of GO on closure of belt shops, he said they were illegal shops as such and what was the meaning in signing a file for their closure.

He said there were as many as 6,000 liquor shops in Andhra Pradesh and everyone wants them to be shut down. In fact, steps should be taken to ensure that not more than one liquor shop was there in each constituency.

Mr. Jagan also urged him to implement his promise of a job to every household and faulted the announcement to implement enhanced pensions in two phases from October 2 for the disabled, widows, old people and others.
