Finding fault with the frequent foreign tours of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Workers Welfare Fund Convenor N. Lokesh and Telangana Panchayat Raj & IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao, Communist Party of India (CPI) National Executive Committee member K. Narayana termed it as ‘high-class begging’ to attract investments to the respective States.
Alleging that the visits were meant for political gains, Mr. Narayana on Tuesday maintained that such moves would degrade the self-respect of the country. “Instead of going abroad begging for investments, they (A.P. and TS governments) can solve the issue by cutting down on unnecessary expenditure,” he told the media here on Tuesday.
Special status
Referring to the special category status to Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Narayana alleged that the State government had no political will to fight for the cause, adding that the leaders were striving for their own political survival. Besides this, He maintained that the chaos being created for building the new State capital would not fetch anything as people are concerned about the government’s rule, not fancy buildings.
Recalling the recent acts of violence, including the alleged encounter in Seshachalam forests, Mr. Narayana said that the law and order situation had worsened during the tenure of TDP government.
