Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu floored CEOs and corporate honchos with his one-hour long lecture elaborating the plans to promote Andhra Pradesh as the ‘Sunrise State’ at a programme organised to release Fortune India 500 issue on Wednesday.
Over 100 industry representatives gave a standing ovation to Mr. Naidu and later during interactive session urged him to create conducive climate to woo investors. Most of the speakers wanted relaxation in land allotment policy and sanction of clearances to reduce gestation period.
The event termed ‘Andhra Talks Business’ featured top decision-makers, thought leaders and business analysts in the country where the initial road map for rebuilding the State was explained.
Mr. Naidu said he was preparing a vision document to develop AP among the top three developed States by 2022 and India’s No. 1 State by 2050.
Philips India MD A. Krishna Kumar and Cognizant Technology Solutions Vice- Chairman Lakshmi Narayanan sought focus on promoting the R&D. Chairman and Managing Partner of IDG Ventures, Sudhir Sethi, emphasised the need to promote migration of skilled manpower into new cities to bring them on par with the Silicon Valley.
Special Chief Secretary (Planning), AP, S.P. Tucker promised the industry that the State would be receptive to the needs of investors. Fortune India editor D.N. Mukerjea noted how Mr. Naidu’s challenge was to build the State with the pace and discipline of a start-up.
