APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana on Friday contended that the information provided by the Intelligence Bureau was general in nature, hence there was no failure on the part of the State government in acting on it and in preventing the bomb blasts.
Mr. Satyanarayana said the information was not specific and preferred not to elaborate on failure part, saying he would not like to add anything as Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had already responded to the issue earlier in the day.
‘Do not politicise’
“It is difficult to predict terrorist strikes and their targets”, he told reporters while recalling the attack on Parliament during NDA Government’s tenure and explosions at Lumbini Park, Gokul Chat and Mecca Masjid here.
When media persons told him that the leader of the Opposition, N. Chandrababu Naidu, too pointed to the failure as the government was alerted two days in advance, he said it was not proper for the Opposition to politicise the unfortunate incident. “We need to set aside politics and all political parties should extend cooperation to the government in tackling such situation”.
The PCC president went on to defend the police too saying there was no delay in responding to the situation while pointing to the way Director General of Police and the City Police Commissioner rushed to the spot within minutes of the incident.
“They were there when myself and the Chief Minister reached the spot. In fact some media persons wondered why we were taking such risk in rushing to the place as there could be more explosives”.
