The South Indian State Government Doctors’ Association (SISGDA) on Sunday demanded the Central and State governments to take necessary steps to implement 50% quota for in-service government doctors in PG-NEET entrance examination.

Addressing mediapersons, coordinator Dr. D. Jayadheer said if the government failed to respond, the association would launch a protest on January 25 by wearing black badges while performing duties. “If the government does not fulfil the demands by January 31, the doctors will boycott outpatient services in all the government hospitals,” he said.

The association demanded both the State and the Central governments to implement 50% quota for in-service doctors in PG and superspeciality NEET entrance examination in all-India and State quotas.

The association also demanded removal of negative marks in the PG entrance examination, removal of age limit for assistant professors in government medical colleges, addition of incentive marks to PG-NEET marks for in-service doctors for considering eligibility, release of separate marks list for all-India and State quota for PG seats by adding 30 marks to the marks secured in the PG entrance exam.

Doctors from Telangana, T.N. and Karnataka were present in the meeting.
