Science Express with exhaustive exhibits at Adoni railway station enthrals students, teachers

Exhibits on science and technology, especially climate and environment, displayed in 13 air-conditioned bogies of Science Express enthralled students, teachers and other visitors at Adoni railway station in Kurnool district on Wednesday.

South Central Railway’s Guntakal Divisional Railway Manager Gopinath Mallya inaugurated the Science Express, which would be stationed on platform No. 2 at Adoni railway station for three days till February 26. Deputy Educational Officer Sriramulu, Adoni Railway Station Manager Parasuram and others were present.

Boys and girls from various mandals in Kurnool district made a beeline to take a look at the exhibits. Guides explained to the guests and students about the exhibits in English, Hindi as well as Telugu. The visitors were allowed into the express through a special doorframe with metal detector under the supervision of railway police personnel.

Glowing science models detailing the factors for rapid changes in the atmosphere, its impact and solutions were amply explained in the first two bogies. Daily chores, their impact on the environment and solutions were the theme of exhibits in the next two compartments. Use of advanced technological knowhow to gauge the atmospheric changes, pacts entered into by various international environmental organisations, their implementation and the results were exhibited in the fifth, sixth and seventh bogies.

The lifestyle to be adopted by people in schools, offices and on roads was explained through exhibits in the eighth bogey. Aspects such as biotechnology, nature, natural wealth and resources and the need for preserving the environment were dealt with in the ninth and tenth compartments. The eleventh bogey comprised a science and technology show by National Innovation Foundation.

Interesting experiments in science and technology and environmental protection that catch the attention of the young minds were portrayed in the 12th compartment and the last one projected maths equations and science and technology aspects in the syllabi of students of fifth to 10th standard.

Kurnool District Education Officer Ravindranath Reddy and other officials have made arrangements for to and fro transport of students from various parts of the district to watch the exhibits in the Science Express. Pandals were put up for teachers and students to rest. Over 50,000 are expected to visit the Science Express in three days.
