A huge human chain was formed in support of Samaikyandhra on the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage in Dowleswaram on Wednesday under the aegis of the Dowleswaram Irrigation Department officials, staff and lashkers (labour) along with students. They were joined by the staff of N.G. Ranga Agriculture College. Human chain was formed from main barrage from East Godavari side to Vijjeswaram on the West Godavari side along with Bobbarlanka and Madduru arms. Chief Engineer P Gopalakrishna Reddy stood at the beginning of the human chain.
The department of animal husbandry held a novel show on the road-cum-rail bridge. The entire stretch of 4.2-km bridge was jam-packed with doctors, employees and staff along with farmers. They protested by placing the photos of leaders of TRS and the Congress around the necks of sheep and goats and shouted slogans. Vehicular traffic was affected for two hours. West Godavari district animal husbandry JAC chairman K Muralikrishna, Naik, Govindarajulu, Kotilinga Raju and veterinary doctors JC state president MSN Murthy were present on the occasion.
State president of the animal husbandry department JAC K Nagesh Babu expressed the fear that the Seemandhra region would become desert with water wars if the state was bifurcated. He said the dairy industry and agriculture would be decimated and there would be severe shortage of fodder.
Meanwhile, YSRCP activists protested against bifurcation by throwing tomatoes and eggs on the photos of the leaders of the Congress and TRS at Kotagummam centre and shouted slogans. MLC Adireddi Appa Rao, and YSRCP leaders TK Visweswara Reddy, Vasundhara, Ajjarapu Vasu and Margani Ramakrishna Goud took part in the stir.
Members of United Teachers Federation who joined Samaikyandhra stir late intensified their agitation on Wednesday. They made the government and private schools shut down. Even women teachers rode bikes and shouted slogans in support of Samaikyandhra.
Relay hunger strikes are continuing in support of Samaikyandhra in Rajahmundry. The relay hunger strike taken up by district judicial employees reached the 30th day. Taxi association state president Puramsetty Manga Rao and federation convener Muppala Subba Rao launched deeksha. Bank employees’ association representatives extended their solidarity.
”Samaikhya Sankaravam’ in support of unified state at Devi Bomma Junction in S. Kota was a major success and passed off peacefully. The event continued from 9.30am to 3pm. Police who made elaborate arrangements diverted traffic. Visalandhra Mahasabha secretary Parakala Prabhakar, JAC employees, teachers, workers and students represented by Murali, Mohan Raju, and Adari Kishore, Zilla Grandhalaya Chairperson I. Raghu Raju, state Telugu Mahila president Sobha Hymavati, TDP MLA Kolla Lalitha kumara, ballad Vangapandu Prasad Rao and others participated. Samaikhyandhra songs and slogans rent the air.
In Vizianagaram, TDP and Congress leaders laid a siege to LIC and Income Tax offices resulting in closure of both the establishments. Panchayat Raj Chamber president M. Appala Naidu who conducted vanta-varpu with residents of Indira Nagar Colony on Visakhapatnam-Vizianagaram Road appealed to Sarpanches and Panchayat secretaries to post letters to President of India and Prime Minister on the need to keep the state united.
