HRF alleges police terror on Adivasis

April 06, 2014 09:47 pm | Updated October 05, 2016 02:24 pm IST - KHAMMAM:

The Human Rights Forum (HRF) has alleged that the police unleashed severe repression against Adivasis in the remote tribal habitations adjoining the inter-State border with Chhattisgarh in the name of ensuring smooth conduct of the coming general elections.

In a statement, the HRF State vice-president S.K. Khader Babu alleged that seven Adivasis of Karigundam and Tettamadugu forest fringe villages of the neighbouring Chhattisgarh State were detained by some police personnel of Bhadrachalam sub-division on Friday.

Stating that the family members of the detained Adivasis were worried over the fate of the latter, he demanded that the police should immediately release the “detained” Adivasis and desist from alleged “illegal detentions.”
