Joint Commissioner of Police B.V. Ramana Kumar on Saturday launched an application for monitoring locked houses to control thefts in the city.
Registration
Residents can download the app, register and request the police to monitor their houses when they are out of town. The police will arrange surveillance cameras and keep a watch on the house, Mr. Ramana Kumar said at a press conference.
“We will introduce the system in East and North police zones in the city with 100 cameras.
“ The city police will spread the Locked House Monitoring System (LHMS) to the remaining zones soon,” the Joint Commissioner of Police said.
How it works
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ghajarao Bhupal said the cameras installed at the locked houses would be connected to the server. If any person tries to break the lock or commit theft in the locked house, the police will receive an alarm.
“LHMS will help police to trace the robbers and detect the case earlier. Besides arranging LHMS, police will keep a watch on the locked houses, once they get request from the residents through the app,” Ramana Kumar said.
He appealed to the public to make use of the facility and cooperate with the police to bring down the crimes in the city.
