Tension prevailed at the BJP State office here on Sunday when activists of the Navyandhra MRPS staged a protest demanding categorisation of the Scheduled Castes (SCs).
The protesters alleged that the BJP was cheating them as its leaders had time again spoken in favour of the categorisation but refrained from taking any concrete action on it. A large number of the activists descended on office and tried to barge in. But the police denied them entry in anticipation of trouble. A confrontation then ensued with the police. A woman constable was assaulted by the irate activists.
