The last Sunday of Karthika masam witnessed heavy pilgrim rush at Srisailam temple as they had to wait for six hours for sarva darsanam and three hours for special darsanam.
Large number of pilgrims took a holy dip at Pathalaganga and all the queue lines for darsanam were jam-packed since dawn. The temple opened at 2.30 am. and the darsanam started from 3 am. after suprabhatha seva, prathakala pooja and maha mangala harathi. Pilgrims in long-winding queues were served drinking water, milk, biscuits and sambar rice as breakfast, according to the temple executive officer Narayana Bharat Gupta. Women lit lamps at Nagulakatta and performed ‘laksha vathula nomu’.
Pushkarini harathi and dasa vidhi harathi for Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Sri Bhramaramba Devi would be given in the evening of the last Monday of Karthika masam, Mr. Gupta said.
High Court judge Justice G. Shyam Prasad, and Santhi Kumari, Additional Secretary to Telangana CM and their family members had darshan at the temple.
