Telugu Desam president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-designate N. Chandrababu Naidu advised TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister-designate to have a peace room and a development room instead of a war room.
Addressing enthusiastic party delegates at the ‘Mahanadu’ (TDP’s annual conference), Mr. Naidu referred to Mr. Rao’s observation that he started a war room (to hear grievances of employees with regard to their allocation to Telangana and Seemandhra). He had sought to know why it was started, but there was no reply so far, he added.
Stressing the need to protect the brand image of Hyderabad, he said TDP would address the problems of Telugu people irrespective of where they live. Stating that everybody should work as per the law, he said both Telangana and Seemandhra regions needs to be developed. Referring to bifurcation, he said the TDP, from the beginning, sought equal justice for both the regions.
Mr. Naidu said his party would strive for ‘Samajika Telangana’ and would win the elections in 2019 in the region with a resounding majority. He wanted an action plan to be chalked out in this regard.
Dedicating the recent electoral victory to Telugu people, the TDP leader launched a scathing attack on the Congress for conspiring to harm the TDP from 1984 till the bifurcation of the State. Many parties came up on the political firmament, but TDP has its own distinct character and was founded by late NTR to protect the self-respect of Telugu people and not solely for power.
Mr. Naidu urged the Centre to sanction funds to develop Seemandhra on par with Hyderabad and recalled that he had told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the party was not keen on Ministerial berths, but wanted justice for Seemandhra. He said Mr. Modi had agreed to cooperate and the details needed to be worked out.
With the sanction of funds, the Centre can create a level-playing field as the government to be headed by him would not even be in a position to pay salaries and its deficit was likely to be around Rs. 15,000 crore. The TDP has the capability of developing three or four cities on the lines of Hyderabad in Seemandhra, he claimed.
Observing that there was a need for five-year vision coupled with development and welfare programmes to develop Seemandhra, he sought suggestions from the party activists to overcome problems.
Mr. Naidu announced that a commission would be constituted in the next six months for looking into the plea of Kapus to be included in Backward Classes.
