The First Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate N. Amaravathi on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of AIMIM floor leader in the Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi till February 26. Rejecting the bail petition, she, however, agreed to hear arguments on it on February 14.
Earlier when the MLA was brought to the court from Adilabad district prison amid tight police security, she directed for his voice recording. When Mr. Akbar’s lawyers took exception to the police placing a piece of document written in Urdu before their client for reading it out on the direction of the Magistrate, they [police] provided him an Urdu daily.
Thus his voice was recorded twice 10 minutes each time. His voice was also recorded when he was asked formal questions with regard to his personal details. Advocates M.A. Saleem, Balraj and Akbar Hussain appeared before court on behalf of the MIM leader.
Mr. Akbar’s younger brother Burhanuddin Owaisi, party MLC Altaf Hyder Razvi, MLA Afsar Khan, district MIM leader M.A. Fayeem and others met him at the court.
Around 2 p.m., Mr. Akbar came out of court and was shifted to Adilabad district prison.
