Handri Neeva within stipulated time: CM

July 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - ANANTAPUR:

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday vowed to complete the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project within the stipulated time.

During his whirlwind tour of the HNSS project area in Anantapur district, the Chief Minister visited the ongoing work sites at Jeedipalli village, where the Jeedipalli reservoir has been constructed as part of the first phase of the HNSS project.

Review meet

At a review meeting with HNSS officials later, Mr. Naidu warned contractors against lethargy or compromise on the quality of works, telling them unequivocally that all works on the first phase of the project would have to be finished within the stipulated time.

“Erring and lethargic officials, too, shall be suspended if they are found to be compromising on the quality or the pace of works. Tell contractors that they shall be blacklisted if they flout norms,” Mr. Naidu said, adding that he intended to make good on his commitment to drive away drought from the face of Rayalaseema districts forever by completing the HNSS and Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanti (GNSS) projects.

“I will ensure that no region in the State is deprived of water by taking up linking of rivers in the state and thereby using the water being water into the sea,” said Mr Naidu.

Earlier, he was received by Hindupur MP Nimmala Kistappa and Tadipatri MLA J.C. Prabhakar Reddy at Puttaparthy. In a departure from his original schedule, he paid a visit to the Maha Samadhi of Sathya Sai Baba at Prasanthi Nilayam.
