: The Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation on Tuesday agreed to sanction alternative land to the Gurajada family which would surrender the poet’s house and adjacent land to the Archaeology Department to convert it into a museum and a cultural centre.

An article highlighting the injustice meted out to the Gurajada family was published in these columns on May 24. The government directed the municipal corporation to hand over the originally identified site in Kottagraharam near NCS theatre in Vizianagaram to the family.

Addressing a media conference here, Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation Chairman Prasadula Ramakrishna said that same site would be allotted on August 9 since the Council needed three months time to reverse its decision. He told Gurajada's great grandson Venkateswara Prasad and his wife Indira that the government would always do justice to poets and writers. Ms. Indira thanked The Hindu.

Meanwhile, writer Vedagiri Rambabu asked the government to utilise the site to the Gurajada house for cultural activities.
