The government should clarify if it is interested in Polavaram project, says Vundavalli Arun Kumar.

Former MP Vundavalli Aruna Kumar has accused the State government of taking up temporary projects like Pattiseema in lure of “kickbacks”.

He said the government was misleading people with claims that water from the Godavari was being diverted through Pattiseema, while it was, in fact, water from the Tatipudi project that was being diverted.

The government appears to have no intention to take up the Polavaram project, which is a permanent solution to the irrigation needs of Krishna delta and other areas, he added.

“The government should clarify whether it is interested in the Polavaram project? Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu should also clarify whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is trying to rope in the Biju Janata Dal, objected to the Polavaram project?” he asked.

The government is misleading people with claims that water from Godavari is being diverted through Pattiseema, while, in fact, water from Tatipudi project was being diverted.
