Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday said that there was no need to declare a ‘health emergency’ in the state as his government was “attentive” to the situation and taking all necessary steps to tackle the spread of epidemics like swine flu and dengue.
Talking to reporters in the state Secretariat on Wednesday, Mr. Rosaiah said all measures to check the spread of diseases and treat affected patients have been put in place.
He said he has been constantly reviewing the situation with top officials of the medical and health department as well as the district collectors.
“We are holding a video-conference with district collectors tomorrow to step up our efforts to contain the spread of diseases,” the Chief Minister added.
An awareness campaign has also been launched in the media to alert people on preventive measures needed to be taken.
The Chief Minister said the seasonal conditions, prices of essential commodities and other issues would be reviewed with district collectors through the video-conference.
Referring to the financial position of the state, Mr. Rosaiah, who also holds the Finance portfolio said, “It is neither an alarming nor a difficult situation. We are carefully managing the situation by keeping a close watch on the revenue inflows.”
