Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Tuesday advised the State government to ensure marketing facilities to the horticulture farmers of Anantapur district.
Speaking at the ‘Sankranti Sambaralu’ organised by the government at Kadiri, he said that the district farmers were progressive in cultivating commercial crop varieties such as musk melons. Mr. Narasimhan reached the programme venue after offering prayers at the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple here.
“The government should provide the necessary marketing facilities so that the farmers sell their produce at appropriate prices and earn more,” said the Governor. Earlier, he interacted with the farmers at a horticulture exhibition organised at the Government Girls High School as part of the Sambaralu.
Extending Sankranti greetings to the farmers, Mr. Narasimhan, urged to the government to make mechanised farm equipment available locally to farmers.
Mr. Narasimhan, along with his wife Vimala, who were expected to go to Anantapur to attend a similar programme, however, left for Bengaluru airport from Kadiri, en route to Hyderabad.
