Good response to Army recruitment rally

More than 36,000 candidates from seven districts of the State are expected to take part in it

The Army recruitment rally which began on July 10 at the BR Stadium has been drawing hundreds of enthusiastic aspirants. The rally to select eligible candidates for various services of the Army from seven districts of the State, Anantpur, Chittor, Guntur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nellore and Prakasam, would be held till July 19. The rally held under the aegis of Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Chennai was being conducted by the Army Recruiting Office, Guntur.

Director, Recruitment, Dhruv Chaudhary said that more than 36,000 candidates were appearing for the rally. Candidates are selected as soldier technical, soldier nursing assistant, soldier general duty, soldier tradesmen and soldier clerk/store keeper.

“We have about 3,900 candidates appearing daily. The process begins at midnight when the height, chest expansion of the candidates is measured, followed by verification of admit card, physical tests including 1.6 km run and other tests which are completed by 4 a.m.,” said Colonel Chaudhary. T

he office had made arrangements for barricading the track. Candidates who have to start the test in the early hours were seen sleeping on the traffic island opposite the stadium.

Local police and civic officials were assisting the personnel in arrangements
