Andhra Pradesh government on Friday evening issued an order imposing motor vehicle tax on vehicles from Telangana entering AP through any of the eight inter-State borders between the two States, effective midnight of Friday.

An order to this effect was signed by Principal Secretary-Transport, Roads & Buildings Busi Sam Bob and it was seen as a response to a similar move by Telangana government that imposed MV tax on transport vehicles from April 1. When asked, A.P. Transport Commissioner N. Balasubramanyam said according to initial estimates, AP would get a revenue of approximately Rs. 5 crore a month from the move.
